Almost Perfect Bike

I have the Gates carbon-belt driven model. Super smooth and extremely lightweight. While it’s great on flats, mild hilly terrain is a challenge. Wish there’s a motor upgrade path for existing owners for much better uphill performance. Translation: more sales for you and higher feeling of satisfaction for your customers. Think like Tesla when some older model hardware specs can be upgraded to newer specs for a fee.

Urtopia Carbon 1S 1st Ride.

It was worth the wait!
I rode 33 miles of mostly flat (rails to trails) around the north end of Lake Washington in Seattle. 5 medium size hills and some headwinds for part of the ride allowed further testing. Here's my thoughts after the initial ride.
Comfort and stability - Excellent! Even with no hands, wind and bumps in the road it felt really stable. The tires are pumped to the 85 psi max recommended. Flat bar felt good, I was not too bent over. Seat, well my arse always complains some, even with my expensive Italian Selle SMP.
Brakes and Gears. All working perfectly.
Motor assist. I kept the assist level at the lowest setting (1) for the whole ride. It boosted my usual speed of 13 mph to 18 mph with a bit less effort. I felt like I was still working (but not quite as much on as my road bike) and was going 5 mph faster. The assist is smooth, seamless, and quiet.
Battery Life - This was just a bit disappointing since the bike is advertised to have a range of up to 60 miles on a charge. I ended my 33 mile ride with 5% battery left. You would need a very flat road, light weight rider and a really strong tail wind to make 60 miles on a charge.
Gearing/Power - I only tested it on 10-12 % grades in the lowest level of assist. In first gear, it was no problem. I don't think there is any hill in Seattle that would defeat this bike in first gear in Turbo Mode!
Conclusion - Very happy and looking forward to many miles of riding. I will be getting a spare battery to extend the range.

Sorry to keep posting the same old stuff all the time, but I hope to inspire everyone to get out and ride. I rode over 8500 miles last year on three different EBikes all mine and the Urtopia is my favorite.
For all of you who live in cold weather areas maybe my posts will give you some warmth.

The best bike ever made!

I test rode the demo version of the bike and was skeptical whether it’d fit me, and some of the functions weren’t even available on the test ride bike. But I still went ahead and got the bike in the Lyra color and it’s just a dream to ride! I love all the tech that’s built into this bike and just the simplicity and sleekness of the bike in general! It’s exceptional at what it does.
Also, it’s an eye candy for sure. I’ve already gotten so many compliments on the street by people who are mesmerised by the design :)
This bike is worth every penny! 🖤

Great Bicycle to get back into fitness routine.

Love this bike and since we had a mild winter down here in New Orleans in February, I have been on it almost every day. Since I am retired, I now have the time to invest, especially since the temperature has been in the 70's and 80's. It does have a couple of quirks that were an irritation though. When I first got the bike last May, and put it together, before I could complete a 6 mile ride, the seat came off from the post while I was riding. I notified Urtopia and they did send me the little "pieces" that comprised The inner workings under the seat, but I had all the trouble in the world trying to put it together. Maybe I'm just not as tech savvy as some of you. Went to 4 different bike shops and they wouldn't touch it, they said it was "proprietary". I almost gave up and let the bike sit there for months before I attempted another ride. No seat, right. Finally several months later on a whim, I went to a 5th shop and showed a guy (Diego) how the little rubber pieces fit together, and he was able to figure it out and finally put the seat back on for me. So far so good. I couldn't believe there is not a stabilizing bolt running through the seat like most other bikes. Instead there are 2 clamps. Well anyway, that was January, and due to a mild winter down here, I have been riding an average of 4 times a week. Since I am of retirement age, it is getting me up and out of the house and enjoying the scenery as well as the ride Not many/any hills here, just a few overpasses, so eco mode has suited me just fine and is easy to pedal around the Lakefront and City Park. I'm not trying to win the Tour de France at my age. My other pet peeves are the handlebars can't be raised. I am 6'2'' and would prefer to ride in a more upright position. Also, the battery power seems to dissipate somewhat, if I don't ride it for a couple of days, and I have yet to be able to sync the bluetooth on my I pod touch that has all my music, to the bike. On a positive side, I love the carbon fiber body, really light weight, and the Gates belt drive and the fact that the app records my rides and statistics which I have shared with the community. I love the smartbar and the lights and turning signals. By the way, is there anyway to read the statistics (mileage, speed, etc.) on the smartbar instead of the app? Overall, I am pleased, but I had to state my concerns, and hopefully Urtopia will rectify some of them in their next edition. I'll keep riding as long as the weather permits.

HI Alfred. Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience with your Urtopia bike. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying your rides and that our bike is helping you stay active.

We're sorry to hear that you experienced difficulties with the seat of your bike. We take all feedback seriously and will definitely pass this on to our team to look into possible solutions. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
As we are working with more repair stores to provide help, more repair stores will be release in these two months.

Regarding the handlebars, we understand that it may not be adjustable to your preference. We'll take note of this and will consider this in our future product development.

As for the battery power, we suggest charging your bike at least once every few days to ensure that it's always ready for your next ride. We'll also look into ways to improve the battery life of our bikes in the future.

Regarding syncing the Bluetooth on your iPod touch, our team would be happy to assist you with this. Please don't hesitate to contact our customer service team for further assistance.

Lastly, to answer your question, right now the smartbar does not display the statistics (mileage, speed, etc.) as these are only available on the app. We'll take note of this feedback for possible future updates to our products.(will release new firmware version in this year.)

Thank you again for choosing Urtopia. We're happy to have you as part of our community of riders.
